This was so funny, I just love the way you wrote this take on Noah's five million animals. Typical woman, that Mrs. Noah, quietly straightening everything out with her vast knowledge.
BRILLIANT!!! First, of course they were swearing. Whatever swearing was to them at that time, it was definitely happening. Secondly and most importantly, I LOVE Mrs. Noah and that SHE is the one to know about Gilgamesh Utnapishtim, and all the rest. "You're in a folklore, darling. I thought you knew." Best line ever.
I'm sharing to my FB JCF Mythological Roundtable of Ketchum, ID page. :)
Glad you liked it Jan, thank you! I also love that Mrs. Noah is the only one who knows what's going on. It's seems only fair, since the Bible doesn't even give her a name. And I suppose there's a little of me in here somewhere: looking back on all the collective anxiety and energy that was devoted to Genesis 6-9 in the conservative evangelical circles I was raised in, I often think that someone could have spared young Michael a lot of trouble and confusion if only they had only handed me the right sort of book. Thank you so much for sharing with others. That says a lot!
